How to prepare scans and photos for accurate data extraction

Accuracy is decided before the file reaches us. Photograph pages flat, in daylight, with the whole page in frame and the camera parallel to the paper.

Scan at 200–300 dpi in grayscale. Colour scans are larger without being more accurate; 600 dpi adds size, not precision, for printed text.

Avoid stapled corners and folds that cross a table. If a page is faint, increase contrast rather than brightness. One page per image is easier to process than two pages side by side.
